NORTH DAKOTA CULINARY SCHOOL + RESTAURANT ADDITION
This project requirements were to remodel the old legion building and Pickled Parrot located in Downtown Fargo for the Kilbourne Group to make it the Culinary Institute of North Dakota and then on the exterior add a student run restaurant.
Given a choice of a design for the menu to be like. I wanted a changing menu from around the world so I designed a structure using shipping containers to show the world influence.
Since it was a split level building it was difficult to to add the addition to be connected with the Production Kitchen in the main building. But, I used shipping containers in the ground, turned into the stairs for going up to the restaurant and down to the bar. Also kept the industrial theme and put in a lift for people with disabilities.
The bar rail is actually the shipping container that is stuck in the ground on the back side of the addition.
