The project featured here was a 2 week long competition for the company Marvin Windows. Located out of War Road, Minnesota, Marvin is one of the biggest producer of high quality windows. In the 2 weeks we were assigned clients and a site for a residential project to where we conducted site visits. Also, we interviewed the clients to discuss budget, program, and design aesthetics that suited them.

To effectively display the clients’ home I produced a digital model, along with window details, plans, and quality renderings while also using Marvin’s windows and doors.

There are series of tall and skinny casement windows on the south side of the house and with the shape and organization of the floor plan, the clients can effectively catch the breezes to cross ventilate the whole home. These windows are also designed pushed out of the structure to not accept direct sunlight in the hot summer months.

EDITED PLANS.jpg

The home I designed for the clients was under 1500 square feet. In those square feet I provided:

1 Master Bed with walk in closet.

1 Master Bath

1 Guest Bed

1.5 Bath

Kitchen with Pantry

Living Space with double sided fire place

Dining Space

Deck with Catwalk to Detached Garage

Unfinished Basement

1 Detached Bed/Office with Storage/Closet

Private Bath/Laundry

2 Stall Garage (1 Stall for Design Shop)

The purpose for the detached garage space was because placing a garage was to not interfere the clients office with living space in the house. It also gives the option for easy rental use. With companies like Airbnb, that create traveling more simple and modern. This detached space gives that option but not interfering with the clients’ residence.
